At Vistar, we believe we need to be aware of and help educate our customers on environmental and social issues for our businesses. Vistar is taking steps in all facets of our business to be socially responsible, from
our trucks to our warehouses and the products we deliver. Here are just a few of the processes and programs we have in place:
> Vistar warehouses have installed Stingray lighting to cut energy costs by more than 50% while maintaining recommended light levels and sustaining light quality for employees.
> Because we drive millions of miles a year across America delivering products to our customers, we have invested in many technologies that enable us to reduce idle time in our trucks, drive more efficient routes and increase our overall efficiency. We have installed on board computer systems and governors on our trucks to improve fleet routing and fuel efficiency, set maximum speeds and reduce emissions.
> Many of our operating companies have implemented local recycling programs for paper, glass and aluminum waste in their facilities.
> Nationally, we are reducing the number of printed order guides which will significantly cut down on our paper usage. Our goal is to be 100% electronic by the end of 2012!
We are committed to educating our customers on how to go green and what products they can purchase that are environmentally friendly. We have produced a
